Throughout 2018, Nelson employees have been taking part in an in-house food drive to collect items for the Salvation Army. These items are put together into “baskets” and provided to local families to enjoy for Thanksgiving dinner. We are proud to say, our food donations will help feed 25 local families.

The Salvation Army has been collecting food items for three weeks now. The program will begin to distribute the food baskets this Friday (11/16) and Saturday (11/17). Salvation Army Social Services Director, Roger Priestley, stated that they ultimately plan on feeding over 2000 mouths (roughly 500 families) this year.

Along with the food items, each basket includes a Prayer of Thanksgiving as well as a voucher to Hy-Vee for a turkey. Nelson also provided a $2500 donation to cover the cost of some of these turkeys in hopes that these families will receive the happy and complete Thanksgiving meal they deserve.
